In July 2022, inflation was 2.08 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.72. Of the 90 CPI cities, all of them experienced inflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Kendari at 2.27 percent with a CPI of 113.98 and the lowest inflation was recorded in Tanjung and Pematang Siantar at 0.04 percent with a CPI of 113.88 and 112.53, respectively.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the price index in the transportation group by 5.22 percent; education group 3.49 percent; food, beverage and tobacco group 2.94 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups 0.94 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group 0.57 percent; personal care and other services group 0.11 percent; and the clothing and footwear group of 0.07 percent. The information, communication and financial services group experienced a deflation of 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the health group, the recreation, sports, and culture group as well as the food and beverage/restaurant supply group did not experience any change/relatively stable.
The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-July) 2022 is 4.95 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2022 to July 2021) is 5.98 percent.
